The Ford Motor Company is recalling cars throughout the US, Canada and Mexico due to a gas tank defect that could cause the cars to stall.
The recall pertains to 2012 through 2018 model-year Focus with 2-liter GDI and 2-liter GTDI engines.
The issue is a possible defective canister purge valve that could get stuck in the "open" position and cause deformation of the fuel tank.
FORD suggests a temporary solution - if you own one of these vehicles, to keep the fuel tank at least half-full. Owners of these recalled cars will be notified directly if they are affected and Ford dealers will repair the cars for free.
